Happy Monday morning everyone,
Last week, we looked at establishing our heart in Forgiveness. Now that Jesus has died, and rose again, forgiveness has not only taken place, but that one act of obedience has also made us the very righteousness of God in Christ.
Why do we need Righteousness? – The need for righteousness was vital to bring us “access to God”
What do you believe about righteousness? Here is how righteousness is defined.
- Strong’s defines it as “the state of him who is as he ought to be, a condition acceptable to God. He established that there is a condition or a way that we ought to be, and that is Righteous.
- Vine’s Dictionary defines it as “the character or quality of being right or right-wise-ness.
Righteousness was included in the New Birth and be glad it did, even though you may not have known it. I certainly did not know it or understand it when I was born again, but that did not keep it from happening in my spirit. If we were not made righteous, we would have no access to God and His Presence.
As we see in the following scriptures, we were made righteous, it was not anything we did to earn it, or to perform for it. It is a gift like Romans 5:17 says.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
- Romans 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
- Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
- Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
- Romans 5:17 17 For if by the one man’s [a]offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
- Isaiah 32:17 – The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness, and assurance forever.
I think this last verse may be my favorite because God wants us to see an amazing benefit from being righteous. Knowing that you are right with Him, produces peace and quietness and assurance forever. Not only do we have access into His Presence, but we have abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness to reign in this life with Him and to have peace, quietness, and assurance. My brothers and sisters, this is a Forever promise, for all eternity.
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
