What Is God Working In You?

What is God Working In You? Have you ever wondered what is God up to for your life? What is His plan for me?

Let’s look at Philippians 2:12

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

I know when I first read this a long time ago, I didn’t really understand it nor did I really try.  But here Paul is telling the Philippian church to do something and then he tells them why they can do this.

 What does the the phrase – “work out” mean? to accomplish, to do, that from which something results, to bring about, or to fashion.

What is it that we are working out? It’s our Salvation (soteria) – Remember that salvation means so. much more than forgiveness. It includes, deliverance, preservation, safety, rescue, health, saving, it is our present possession.  We are rescued from the power of sin and it’s effects.

We work out our own salvation with fear (or a reverence) for what God has done in us and trembling, which means “not trusting our own ability to meet all the requirements or our religious duty.

What do we trust in then?  It’s what God is doing in us.  That which is pleasing or according to His good pleasure.

You might be asking “how can we do this”?  Let’s see what God is working in us.

Philippians 2:13

13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Philippians 1:6

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

VOICE Translation

I am confident that the Creator, who has begun such a great work among you, will not stop in mid-design but will keep perfecting you until the day Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, returns to redeem the world.

Hebrews 13:20-21. These are powerful parting words of Paul’s to this group of Christians.

20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 2:13

13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

This means His Word is to be operative, to be at work, to put forth power, and to display one’s activity. This is what God’s Word is doing in our lives; putting forth His power so He can display it in our life.

Ephesians 1:5

having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

Ephesians 1:9

having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

We can stop asking “God” what am I supposed to do or what should I do in order to please Him.  Rather, ask Him, what have you done that I need a revelation of?  What have you already worked in me through Christ, and how do I cooperate with You?

Pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to unveil, and to reveal this beautiful salvation to me.  The people in the bible came to Jesus with faith in Him that He would heal them. We come to Him with faith that He has already healed us and wanting to learn how to walk in that healing.  We put our belief in the Healer, not just in healing.  Without the Healer, there is no healing.

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous and you are Hs!

  2. A complete 180 of my “normal” thought. Like, jesus, what am I able to do for You? So, “what have You already done in me, and how do I live into that?” Cool! Thanks so much! Roscoe
