Good Monday morning friends,
The Lord woke me up around 4:00am and I heard these words; “Stir Up Your Minds”. This week’s message is meant to be life changing. And… here’s the other part to this:
There is so much opposition to Christianity in today’s world, and we have allowed our minds to wander and our eyes to be distracted by what we see. We must learn to get our eyes re-focused on Jesus and the Word of God which keeps our minds pure. I also heard, stop listening to all the other voices in this world and learn to “Stand in your position in Christ”!
These scriptures in 1 & 2 Peter reveal the importance of these truths.
2 Peter 1:13 – Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,
2 Peter 3:1 – Beloved friends, this is now the second letter I have written to you in which I’ve attempted to stir you up and awaken you to a proper mind-set.
1 Peter 1:13 – So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you.
Can you hear the Apostle Peter’s heart? He knows his departure is soon, and he is wanting to help his fellow believers know that they can rely on the Word of God over every other voice. He was referring to knowing this first: ….that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget:….
He then goes on to reveal in chapter one that the Prophetic Word Is Trustworthy, and that the written Word is Pure, Holy and can always be counted on. Peter says this in –
V. 19 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
I want to encourage you today and this week, to cut off any other voice that is bringing worry, anxiety, fear and allowing you to feel discouragement that does not belong to you. Whatever it is that you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth belongs to you.
The “Mind of Christ” has the authority over your (or anyone else’s) own interpretations. You and I need to be continually reminded Who and In What we believe. It is not this world’s words and wisdom, but in the true, pure Word of God.
If you have wandered off the path of God’s Truth, I encourage you today, “to stir up your pure minds to the truth” and be mindful of who you are!
Prayer:
Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters to take inventory in what and how they are thinking and ask some hard questions and search your Word for the answers they are seeking. Phil 2:5 says “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,…” We look to your voice out of your Word and your Spirit that will solidify the truth, so we remember to stir up our pure minds with the reminder of your Eternal Truths.
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous and you are His!
