I want us to today to think like the new creations that we all are. If we don’t understand what New Creation means, it will be difficult to think like the new creation that we are. Let’s read our foundational scriptures and get our conversation going. I am amazed at times how unbelief can creep into our thinking. It is so true, we really do need to guard our hearts.
Proverbs 4: 20-23
My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.
23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23 & 24 CJB
23 be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and clothe yourselves with the new nature created to be godly, which expresses itself in the righteousness and holiness that flow from the truth.
and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,
Colossians 3:1-4 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Set your affections (mind) = to exercise the mind, i.e. entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience):—set the affection on, (be) care(-ful), (be like-, be of one, be of the same, let this) mind(-ed), regard, savour, think.
On things above = above, in a higher place, upward, up, on high
I hope you are seeing a common thread here. This week start setting your mind on things above, and not in things on the earth. Next week we will finish up this teaching. We ARE new creations, but if we don’t renew our minds (our affections) to this, we will never live the supernatural life that God intended us to. Until next week.
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
