The Finished Work Of Christ

Peaceful Monday Morning to you! What comes to your mind when you hear someone talk about the “finished work of Christ”?  Boy, that’s a question, isn’t it?   I’ve had this question asked several times and thought I would share this with you today.

My first thoughts are; what Jesus did or accomplished at the cross?  What were those accomplishments?

  • Forgave, removed, and forgot our sins – Hebrews 10:17 & 8:12
  • Gave us His righteousness (our right standing with the Father again) – 2 Corinthians 5:21
  • Made us a new creation in Him – 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • Removed the curse of the law from us – Galatians 3:13
  • He became poor for us that we might become rich in everything including money 2 Corinthians 8:9
  • He took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses – Isaiah 53: 4,5 Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24

Genesis 2:1-6 tells the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created.  In verse 7, it continues “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breaths of life.”  This is amazing!  God placed man into a “finished work” in the garden.  In verse 8 it says, “The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man who He had formed.”  Everything he needed was already there just waiting for him to arrive. He didn’t have to do a thing to get what was in the garden.

Because man chose to sin, now only a Man who could fulfill all the law could bring redemption and be able to pay the price for sin.  Only a perfect Man, one without sin, and that Man was Jesus, the God-Man who takes away the sin of the world.

The Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit already knew that His man and woman would sin and had the plan of full redemption before He created anything; remember, “He is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8 & Ephesians 1:4

As you think about this during the week, know that your Father knew everything you would need in this life to live it victoriously through His Son, Jesus.  He made sure that every resource you would ever need would be here for your use.  He redeemed us and gave back even more through the final “finished work of the cross” so we could be with Him for all eternity. You were born to be here on this earth, at this specific time and for His purpose!

I pray that we all get the revelation of all that we really have “In Christ” and that from Genesis to Jesus, it has always been God’s will for us to have every good and perfect gift from our Father.  James 1:17. I pray that we see His goodness and love for us that would bring us back to His heart an let Him love and provide for us as our Good Father!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
