The Mighty One!

Under the Old Covenant God always showed Himself as the Mighty One, who no one could fight against.  The scriptures tell us it was His mighty hand, or His mighty deeds that brought victory and freedom to Israel.  We also see Isaiah’s prophecy about the Messiah, and one of His names is “Mighty God”.  He is our Messiah!

  • Deuteronomy 3:24 O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mightdeeds?
  • Psalm 50:1 The Mighty One, God the Lord, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its going down.
  • Isaiah 42:13 The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies.
  • Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

He is the same in the New Covenant, He is just as Mighty and powerful!

  • Matthew 11:23 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
  • Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
  • Ephesians 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
  • Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
  • Colossians 1:11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

Here are some definitions of might and mighty that will help to paint the picture of Who is at work in you!

  • Matthew 11:23 – Mighty – strength, ability, power, inherent power, force, specially, miraculous power, worker of miracles, violence, wonderful work.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:4 – Mighty – powerful, mighty, strong, to be able, mighty excelling in something capable, possible, power, and strong.
  • Ephesians 1:19 – Mighty – ability, force, strength, might, power.
  • Colossians 1:11 – Might – strength, power, ability, power for performing miracles, abundance, miraculous power.

Our God is and always will be the Mighty One!  He lives on the inside of you and me.  Jesus said that if the “mighty” works had been done in Sodom that He did in Capernaum, they would have repented.  Those had to me such mighty works that they could not be denied coming from God Himself, through Christ.

Will we acknowledge The Mighty and Mighty Works He has done in us through Christ? He says that we would be strengthened with all “might” according to His glorious power.  We are commanded, to be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His Might.

Whatever is going on in your life today, you have a Mighty God and Savior who lives in you and strengthens you with His might, power, and mighty miraculous works.

Nothing is Impossible with the Mighty One who has spoken and called into being the earth from the rising of the sun to its going down. Walk in this Might that He has placed within you this week in the total victory He has already won for you!

Father, help us to remember that nothing is impossible to those who believe.  We pray that the eyes of our hearts are flooded with light that we can know you, the Mighty One who never leaves us nor forsakes us and is working in us according to your glorious power to believe and walk in all that you have for us as your children!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
