You Already Have the Faith You Need

Good Monday morning, dear friends.

Let me start with a question that many believers wrestle with—Where did faith come from? How did we get it? And how do we keep it? At first glance, these may sound like loaded questions, but the truth is, God’s Word provides the answers clearly and beautifully. If your heart is hungry for clarity, for assurance, and for a deeper understanding of this precious gift called faith, then lean in with me this morning. You’re about to be blessed by Him.

Where did faith come from?
Faith comes from God Himself—because He is a faith God. Everything He does flows from faith. He created the universe by faith. He speaks and it comes to pass. It’s who He is. And because we are made in His image, He created us to live the same way. God placed His own faith into His Word, and that truth never fails to leave me in awe. When we interact with the Word, we are literally engaging with the very faith of God. It’s not a concept; it’s a living force.

Jesus said plainly in Mark 11:22 (NKJV), “Have faith in God.”
Some translations render this, “Have the faith of God.” Think about that. Jesus is inviting us to operate not just in God, but like God—in the same faith that creates worlds and raises the dead.

So how did we get faith?
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) tells us, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” This is not just hearing with our natural ears, but hearing a rhema word—a spoken, revealed, life-breathing word from the heart of God to ours. That moment you heard the Gospel for the first time and it stirred your heart? That was a rhema word. You didn’t drum up faith—it was birthed in you through the Word. That’s how we first received saving faith. That’s how we continue to receive faith for every area of life.

Faith that comes by “hearing” in this verse Romans 10:17 means a “rhema” word, (that which is or has been uttered by the living voice, a thing spoken.) I love this one – (a declaration of one’s mind made in words).

At salvation, something miraculous happened. God didn’t just save us from sin, He saved us from the effects of sin and death through the law of the “Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:2 —He also gave us the capacity to believe. Not by human strength, but by divine impartation. We heard and we believed. And what we received in that moment wasn’t just faith to get saved—it was God’s own kind of faith. Oh, how He Loves You!

Romans 12:3 (KJV) assures us that God has “dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Not a measure, like different portions to different people, but the measure—the same portion, straight from Him. We don’t have less than someone else. We all started with the same divine capacity. Our walk now is about learning how to grow in it, release it, and use it effectively.

Galatians 2:16 and 20 (KJV) make this even clearer:

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ… that we might be justified by the faith of Christ.” (v.16)
“The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (v.20)

Notice this—it’s not even your faith you’re living by. It’s His. The same faith that Jesus operated in when He walked the earth is what now lives in you. You don’t need to go searching or striving for more faith—You can grow in understanding and to recognize the treasure you already possess.

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) confirms this: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”
Yes, salvation is a gift, but so is the faith to receive it. Every promise of God requires faith, and He has already placed within you the exact kind of faith needed to receive every one of them.

So today, whatever you are facing—whether it’s a mountain that seems immovable or a battle you’ve grown weary in—remember this truth: You are not trying to get faith. You already have it. The faith of the Son of God is alive in you right now. Your journey is not about earning more but learning to release what’s already been freely given.

Let’s take hold of 2 Peter 1:1-4 (NKJV) where Peter speaks of “those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ,” and reminds us that through God’s “exceedingly great and precious promises,” we partake of the divine nature.

Declaration of Faith
Today, I affirm that I have the faith of the Son of God living on the inside of me. I am not trying to get faith—I already have it. I walk by faith, not by sight. The Word of God is alive in me and is producing fruit. I am justified by His faith, empowered by His promises, and confident in His love. I receive every good thing by grace through faith, and I live to bring glory to the One who gave it all for me. I am loved, I am righteous, and I am His. Amen.

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
