Overcoming Disappointment In All Its Forms!

Good Morning friends!

We have all felt and have been tempted to give in to disappointment, but we don’t have to. Read what God has to say to you today, and instead, Be Free of Disappointment in all its forms! Jesus took whatever it is that you are experiencing on the cross and He said, “It Is Finished!” No More!

What does “biblical disappointment” mean? – Biblical disappointment is explained as the emotional. spiritual, or mental pain caused when hope, desires, or expectations are not met how you thought they should be or when you thought they should be.

Disappointment is usually a process, it doesn’t happen overnight, think about this quote – “Disappointment is a temporary detour on the road to success”.

We must get our eyes, our focus off the thing that is bringing the disappointment and on to what God says to bring you hope that assists your faith that can bring the joy and trust that “it shall be as God has said”.  Colossians 3:2-3 (AMP) Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:2 (TPT)Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.

Truth to Hold Onto

God has given us the Grace needed to walk through any situation in our lives. When we allow ourselves to be disappointed (losing hope), our expectations become based on what we see or feel.

There is nothing in the human condition that was overlooked or ignored in Redemption. Everything that Adam’s sin caused and unleashed was fully carried and paid for at the cross of Jesus the Christ.
No more condemnation from God. No more bowing to sin and death. This has been defeated completely at the Cross!

Think on these Scriptures this week:

Romans 8:1–2 (MSG)
With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.

Romans 15:13 (NKJV)
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 (AMPC)
May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.

Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Reflection

So many people today have allowed themselves to lose hope because our attention is either so divided, or it’s on anything and everything but God.

Why is hope so important? Because it assists our faith to see with our hearts and our imaginations what is ours before our natural eyes see it. The scriptures show us that having hope is essential.

Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

Why do we give up so quickly and easily? We have become way too distracted and sense-ruled, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to sustain us and to paint the outcome in our hearts.

The Compassion of Christ

Matthew 14:14
And when Jesus went out, He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick.

Think about this: the compassion of Christ for us sent Him to the cross. This is what gives us hope and faith. He has already done this. We are not waiting for Him to move on our behalf.
It Is Finished!

Encouragement to Act

Most people today will tell you, “Don’t get your hopes up.” Why? Because the enemy knows that if you start off not really expecting or hoping for anything, your faith won’t be active to receive.

So today, let’s get our hopes up—and as high as we can get them!!!

Remember: You are Loved. You are Righteous and You are His.

  1. I will continue to try to keep my hopes up and not get discouraged by broken relationships. It’s hard when you feel so rejected. Thank you Colleen for a very needed message. Blessings to you and David.
