Good Monday Morning To You All!
Have you ever realized that you are becoming—day by day, choice by choice—whatever you believe most deeply? Not what you say you believe… but what you truly think in your heart, nurture in your imagination, and allow to shape your inner world. Scripture reminds us that whatever fuels our inner life ultimately forms our outer life. And so the real question becomes: What is fueling your mind, your thoughts, and your imagination?
Think about it this way: when you pull up to a gas station, you choose what you put into your car—Regular, Mid-grade, or Premium. The vehicle doesn’t decide; you do. Your mind and heart work the same way. Every day you choose what you feed your thoughts: your emotions, your circumstances, your fears… or the eternal truth of what God says about you. Who’s driving the car of your inner life—your natural thoughts, or the Spirit of God? Scripture is clear: “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7) What you meditate on becomes your identity. What you imagine becomes your direction.
God’s Word tells us that your heart reflects who you truly are: “As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man.” (Proverbs 27:19) Your imagination, your inner talk, your thoughts—they are shaping the life your walking in. That’s why the song “I Can Only Imagine” is so powerful. It paints a picture of what it looks like to see ourselves and our future through the lens of God’s glory, not our limitations. For many of us, this kind of God-centered imagination doesn’t come naturally, but it does come supernaturally. I know it didn’t for me. I didn’t have a healthy picture of myself—certainly not the picture God had of me. It was a fight, a daily choice to cast down the thoughts that contradicted God’s truth and replace them with His promises.
Scripture tells us how to win that fight. “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds… bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4–5) Believing what God says instead of believing our emotions or past experiences often starts as warfare—but it ends in freedom. God has delivered us, He does deliver us, and He will continue to deliver us (2 Corinthians 1:10). That means your identity, your future, your mindset, and your imagination are not left to chance. They are being shaped by the Holy Spirit who teaches you all things and reveals the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:9–14; Ephesians 1:17–18).
But we must partner with Him. The Word urges us: “Set your minds on things above.” (Colossians 3:2) “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it.” (Mark 11:24) “Think on these things—whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely…” (Philippians 4:8). And “Guard your heart with all diligence.” (Proverbs 4:23). Why? Because God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or even think—according to the power at work within us (Ephesians 3:20–21). Our thoughts either partner with that power or resist it.
Even Scripture shows us the impact of imagination—positive and negative. Mary sang, “He has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.” (Luke 1:51). And in Genesis, God Himself said of humanity at Babel, “Nothing they propose to do will be impossible for them.” (Genesis 11:6). Imagination is powerful. Heart-belief is powerful. But the most powerful thing of all is when your heart truly believes God’s truth. That is when transformation begins. That is when you start becoming everything God imagined about you before you ever imagined anything about yourself.
Remember – you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
