Happy Monday Friend! Last week, my husband and I were talking with some friends about Psalm 1:3. We began to talk about why it is so important to have our hearts planted in the Word of God. This Psalm starts out by telling us that we are Blessed when we don’t go to those that do not know God for answers to life’s questions. If we delight in the Word of God, meditating on it, then we will be like a tree that is planted by the “rivers of water”. Why is that important? Rivers are always moving, never stagnant, staying fresh.
There is such a magnificent promise that we will bring forth fruit in its season, and our leaf, (which is the fruit we are bearing) will not wither. Is there anything that seems to be withering in your life? If it is, we can go back to the Word and get ourselves planted in whatever it is we need, and watch what we are planting bring forth fruit and not withering. The last sentence in verse 3 says “And whatever he does shall prosper.“ This is the opposite of withering.
Psalm 1: 1-3
Blessed (A)is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
(B)Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But (C)his delight is in the law of the Lord,
(D)And in His law he [b]meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
(E)Planted by the [c]rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall (F)prosper.
Look at this next verse – In order to bring forth good fruit our heart must be good soil so that what is planted becomes that majestic vine and prospering continually.
It was planted in good soil by many waters, To bring forth branches, bear fruit, And become a majestic vine.”
We will end with the verse below – The Word of the Truth of the Gospel has come to you iand s bringing forth fruit in you and in anyone who will allow it to grow in their heart.
5 because of the hope (A)which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;
Keep planting the Word of God in your heart and you too will be like that tree planted by the rivers of water whose leaf (fruit) will ot wither, but will prosper in whatever you do.
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
