Morning friends. Today, I want to introduce you to one of my most favorite Psalms! I’m chuckling right now, because we can say that just about everything in the Word of God! š
Let’s read Psalm 121 and then dig into it. This will bless us all, I promise.
IĀ will lift up my eyes to the hillsā
From whence comes my help?
2Ā My helpĀ comesĀ from theĀ Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3Ā He will not allow your foot toĀ be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4Ā Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5Ā TheĀ LordĀ isĀ yourĀ keeper;
TheĀ LordĀ isĀ your shade at your right hand.
6Ā The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7Ā TheĀ LordĀ shallĀ preserve you from all evil;
He shallĀ preserve your soul.
8Ā TheĀ LordĀ shallĀ preserveĀ your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
We are starting from the beginning, God tells us to “lift up our eyes”. When we are in a situation or challenge, our natural self want to look to ourselves to figure out the answer, but God is telling first to “Look Up”. we don’t look to the mountains and the hills for they can do nothing for us, but if we see those mountains and hills as a reminder to us of how Big God is and how small our problems are in comparison, then we are on the right path to seeing His promise manifest.
Truly our help, our aid only comes from the Lord. I love how he says “who made heaven and earth”. This shows His power and creative ways to walk us out of whatever we might be in.
In verses 3 & 4 we see His promise to watch over us at all times. When He says He will not allow our foot to be moved, that word means to “to slip”. He is saying you will not be shaken or be without something to stedy you like a “pole” to help you walk.
How many of you would admit that fear trys to grip you at night when you need to go to sleep? Get this Word into your consciousness and your heart!! He who keeps you will not slumber. When we lay down to go to sleep, He never does! God is your guardian, the one who watches over you, even when you are sleeping to be refreshed and restored. We forget who is watching over us at all times.
I am going to end today’s message with this: Our Father promises to watch over us individually and His people collectively. You are never alone. Tonight, if that is you, I want to see in your heart, God sitting at the bottom of your bed watching over you so you experience “sweet peaceful sleep”, and then see Him so excited for you to wake up in the morning so you two can talk and fellowship just because of how much He loves you!
We’ll pick back up next week to finish out this Psalm. I pray our vision of our Big God becomes so overwhelming in a good way, that we stop looking down and to ourselves for answers that only He has and wants to share them with us. Until next week friends…
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
