I want to share a story of something that happened to me in my first year of Charis Bible College. We had come into class like normal, but because we had a guest teacher, year 2 and 3 were also in the room. I don’t know if you know who Sarah Bowling is, she is Marilyn Hickey’s daughter.
She began by calling a couple of people out with words of knowledge for them, then she called me. It was not an easy word to receive in front of so many people, but that is how much my Father loves me that He found someone who would be obedient to speak it out. It took me a long while to really understand what this meant and how I was going to do what He was instructing me to do. Oh, but when I did, my life has changed forever, and so can yours.
Ephesians 4:23 -24 and Romans 12:2 (these are the 2 scriptures she gave me)
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23 -24 TPT Now it’s time to be made new by every revelation that’s been given to you. 24 And to be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ-within as your new life and live in union with him! For God has re-created you all over again in his perfect righteousness, and you now belong to him in the realm of true holiness.
Romans 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2TPT
Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
“God said my mind had gone off the plot and that I have to be very careful where I let my mind go, because my mind tended to go down dark alleys, it causes things that are depressing and hopeless.
As you start heading down that way, capture those thoughts, arrest those thoughts and don’t let yourself continue down that path, but instead renew your mind and the way you renew your mind is by replacement, instead of going down the dark alleys give yourself the thoughts, the verses, that are going to be the opposite of that, put those thoughts in your mind, so when the dark alleys come and lures you to go down those discouraging things you are going to say No, No, No, here’s what the bible says about that and counteract it and replace it.
So instead of trying to keep yourself out of the quicksand, that’s a quagmire for you, instead of that, the more you fight it, the more it feels your falling into it, replace it with the Bible and it will rescue you with a life jacket around your thoughts and it will bobb you up instead of being dragged down into the bottom dwellers stuff. So put those Bible verses in your head to counteract those dark alleys, so when the dark alleys tempt you, you have those verses to say Oh No, you’ll take the Bible verses and replace it with replacement therapy to immunize you to those dark alleys.”
From me – No More Dark Alleys!
Has your mind gone off the “plot” or down dark alleys, into places it should never be allowed to go? The answer above is what set me free from what others thought about me, what they thought they knew about me, and about what God thought about me. When I hear anything opposite or dark in my mind, I ask the Holy Spirit for help and take the powerful Word of God and replace those thoughts and let His lifejacket rescue me into His world, not this one!
We have the choice to see ourselves the way God sees us – healed, healthy, whole, victorious, accepted, comforted, and joyful! Don’t these words sound so much better? These are words of life that will make a change in your heart.
Let’s see what God says about healing!
Matthew 8:16 & 17
16 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.
17 and thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah; He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases. (This was Jesus showing us what was in our redemption when He would go to the cross, that He would bare everything that was fallen in us, so we can be all that He is and purchase back all that we were created to be)!
I love that Jesus showed us while He was here on earth that this is what His Father’s will was and still is for His people to live in health, even as their souls prosper. 3 John 2
Isaiah 53: 4 & 5
4 Surely, He has borne our grief’s (sicknesses, weaknesses and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
The verses above are what was prophesied of the Messiah. How wonderful that it all came to pass and still is today!
1 Peter 2:24
24 He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been (were) healed.
Here is the promise now after the cross of Christ. I love in the Passion translation it says, ” Our instant healing flowed from His wounding”!
Romans 8:2
2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of the our new being] had freed me from the law of sin and death.
We are not bound to the law of sin and death. We live under a new law, called the Law of the Spirit of Life and that Life lives in you!
Romans 8:11
11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
The meaning of the phrase “give life” also means to “preserve” life in your mortal (physical) body that you live in right now.
Listen to what Preserve means:
- to keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction
- Protect
- to keep alive, intact, or free from decay
- Maintain
- to keep or save from decomposition
Let these Words build the foundation in your heart that it is always God’s will to heal! And, it is always God’s will to heal you!
Remember, you are loved, you are righteous, and you are His!
