Righteousness – Part 2

Good Monday Morning. I am so glad you are back for part 2 of what righteousness means to us. Today we will look at 2 last things, which by no means is exhaustive of what it means to be righteous. Get this is your heart for this week.

Not by our righteous works:

Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

It’s Jesus plus nothing that makes us righteous.  It is faith in what He did at the cross; nothing else.  It’s not our good works, it’s not how much we’ve done or not done, but only what He has already done for you as your substitute, period!

We should do good works because He has made us good, not because our good works makes us good (righteous).  Being righteous is who you are in Christ!

Putting on righteousness – a word picture:

Ephesians 4:24 – And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Quote from Andrew Wommack:

Just as we put on clothes to cover our natural nakedness, we put on righteousness (our new born-again selves) so our new attitudes and actions should be visible instead of our flesh.

Quote from Charles Spurgeon:

Here is good cheer for those souls who are hungering after righteousness, and pining because they feel so much of the burden of indwelling sin; for cleanliness before the Lord is not destroyed by our infirmities, nor prevented by our inward temptations. We stand in the righteousness of Another. No measure of personal weakness, spiritual anxiety, soul conflict, or mental agony can mar our acceptance in the Beloved. We may be weak infants, or wandering sheep in ourselves, and for both reasons we may be very far from what we wish to be; but, as God sees us, we are viewed as washed in the blood of Jesus, and we, even we, are clean every whit.

  • How can the revelation of righteousness help you in your life today?
  • Righteousness is your identity, are you seeing yourself in right standing with your heavenly Father?
  • If you have called on Jesus as Savior and Lord, then righteousness has been given to you as a gift.
  • Read the scripture below to see who you are and who Jesus is made unto us.

I Corinthians 1:30 –  but of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Remember, You are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
