Don’t Forget His Benefits

Psalms 103:205

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

These verses start out with blessing the Lord, why, because of all the benefits He is about to reveal to us.  He has forgiven every iniquity and healed every disease.  He has redeemed our life from destruction and then crowned us with loving kindness and tender mercies.  He satisfies our mouth with good things, and why does He do all these things?  SO That, your youth is renewed like the eagles.  Look these verses up in the Blue Letter Bible and study this how the eagle is renewed?

This verse is book-ended by two very powerful thoughts.

  • Don’t forget all His benefits
    • You know why the Father has to remind us to “not forget His benefits”? because we do forget.  What He has provided needs to stay in the forefront of our minds and our hearts.  We allow ourselves to get so distracted by this life, but be encouraged, He is our Life!
  • So that you have a benefit outcome of “your youth being renewed like the eagles.
    • I looked up that phrase “your youth being renewed” in Strong’s, and it means “your early life, young life.”  Don’t let the lies that just because you are getting older, that something has to happen to your body, NO, that is not true, that does not agree with what the Father has said over and over in His Eternal Word.  We are promised that our latter years to be better than our former ones.

Later in this verse, God reminds us that our sins our far removed (forgiven) vs.  11-12.  He then goes on to tell us that the same way a father (pities) has compassion/loves his children, so the Lord has compassion and loves us, and how much more and deeper does He love us, so much so, that He gave Jesus to become sin for us, that we could become His very righteousness in Christ, II Corinthians 5:21.

If you work, then you are familiar with every year you must renew your health benefits.  The Kingdoms benefits are eternal and were bought for us one-time at the cross through the finished work of Jesus.  They are as good now as they were when God first spoke of them in Psalms 103.

Prayer

Good morning Father.  Thank you for all your benefits, I know there is so much more than what you have spoken of here in this Psalm.  Thank you for forgiving all my sins, not just some, or the ones I committed before Christ, but all my sins, that your blood is so powerful that they are now wiped away.  Thank you for providing “health” benefits to me by taking those stripes, the lashes on your back to provide healing for whatever I would need in my life.  This week I will meditate on all that you have done and praise you along the way!

Remember, you are loved, you are righteous, and you are His!
