Looking In The Mirror

Every day we do one thing, and that is look into a mirror in the morning when getting ready for your day.  What do we expect to see when look in the mirror?   What we look like, of course, our reflection.  The only problem is that mirror only shows us what we look like on the outside, our physical, natural self, but what about the real you, the new creation that God made you the day you accepted the fact that Jesus is the Son of God, and you had the realization that you needed a Savior?

If we want to know who we are as a child of God, we have now look to the Spiritual Mirror, which is God’s Word.

James 1:22 – 25   But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

The “perfect law of liberty” is God’s mirror; our spiritual mirror, but if we never take the time to look into that mirror, we’ll never discover all that God has made us to be.  It takes time to renew our minds from what it’s been programmed to think on before our conversion in Christ.  If we will take a very close look in the spiritual mirror of God’s Word, and not forget what we look like in Him, we will begin to see the reflection of our Father and who we truly are as His sons and daughters.

As we think on what He is saying to us, we’ll develop an entire mentality based on our new identity in Christ.  We need to let these new identity thoughts dominate us and allow ourselves to be spiritually minded, and not carnally minded (or just plain natural minded).  There is a whole other realm where God’s Kingdom is that is available for us to live and move and have our being in, if we will believe what He says about us, and not what this world tries to mold us into.

This week find a verse that speaks to you and ask the Holy Spirit to show you how that applies to your life and the new you!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
