Our New Identity Through the Blood of Jesus

Happy Monday Morning everyone!  Let’s start our week out thinking about who we really are “In Christ”!  Our Heavenly Father wants us to know exactly “who we are”, and “what we have in Him”.

  • Ephesians 2:13 – But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were afar off are made near by the blood of Christ.

The blood of Jesus is spoken of throughout all of the New Testament. When spoken of, it refers to Christ’s death as a means of securing salvation and of the establishment of the New Covenant between God and man.

When a child is adopted, they gain a new identity.  When my husband was adopted, he was David C… living in another state in an orphanage with Nuns taking care of him.  Once all the papers were signed, he became David I., now living in another state.  Instantly, everything that was Mr. & Mrs. I’s became his.  He now became a son in the I’s family.  He was removed from one place/position to another.

God has done an even better thing for us; He has adopted us into His family.  Colossians 1:13 – Who has (past tense) delivered us from the power of darkness, and has (also, past tense) translated us into the kingdom of His Dear Son.  We have changed positions, and He did it according to the “good pleasure of His will”! This is a powerful revelation that we don’t meditate on enough

  • Ephesians 1:5 – having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
  • Romans 8:15 – For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by who we cry out “Abba, Father” (Daddy, God!).

This is where our focus needs to be.  The more we focus on “who we are”, “what belongs to us” and “who we belong to”, our lives will change and be transformed.  We will see ourselves and become conformed to His Image!

Here are some scriptures to remind us that under the New Covenant, the blood of Jesus has provided:

  • The forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7)
  • A new heart (Jeremiah 31:33-34)
  • Mercy toward unrighteousness (Hebrews 8:12)
  • Justification (Romans 5:9)
  • Eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12)
  • Intimate relationship with God (Hebrews 8:11)
  • Deliverance from a worthless kind of life (1Peter1:18-19)
  • Peace with God (Colossians 1:20)
  • The putting away of sin (Hebrews 9:26)
  • Continual cleansing (1 John 1:17)
  • A cleansed conscience (Hebrews 9:14)
  • Deliverance from the Law (Ephesians 2:15)
  • Reconciliation (Ephesians 2:16)
  • Access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18)
  • A perfect standing before God (Colossians 1:22)
  • The spoiling of principalities and powers (Colossians 2:15)
  • Authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19)
  • Christian liberty (Galatians 5:1)
  • Healing for the physical body (Matthew 8:17)
    • (Scriptures Taken from Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary)

Prayer:

Father, thank you for making us new creations in Christ with a brand-new nature inside us so that we can approach your Throne of Grace with boldness knowing that we belong to you to have full access and relationship with you.  As we allow these eternal words of life to sink into our hearts, we pray for Your wisdom and answers to be made manifest in the true reality of who we are in Christ.

You are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!

  1. Am trying to renew my mind to God’s truth. One or more of the biological drugs I was given for psoriasis. Made my skin abnormal. I can’t get it to wash right or moisturize anymore. Am in so much pain since skin turned hard. But by Jesus stripes I am healed. He sent his word and healed my flesh. This sickness isn’t unto death I will live to declare the goodness of God in the land of the living. God’s word doesn’t return void but accomplishes what it was sent to do. I have the same spirit living inside of me that raised Jesus from the dead bringing life to my mortal body. Life and death are in the power of my tongue. I speak life over my body. No weapon formed against me shall prosper.

    • Excellent you are doing so well declaring God’s word over your body. I too am dealing with a skin issue and the pain and discomfort that accompany it. I have found telling the pain and rash to go in Jesus name and standing on that declaration no matter what the symptoms say work and work well! I am still doing this and seeing improvement and it has helped me to know the power and authority God has given us through his son and what he purchased on the cross for us. And now I can declare with confidence that same power lives in me and therefore I can speak out with boldness and will see my healing come to pass. God bless you as you stand as well and you will see your healing! Do not be moved by symptoms, they are a lie and God’s word the truth! No turning back! Say out loud NO to symptoms and they will listen to you when you know who you are in Christ and the power he has given you which by the scriptures you have stated you do know. Glory to God!
