Good Monday Morning Friends!
In this week’s devotional I want us to think about what does our heart really believe. Our hearts can become persuaded about many things, but are they the right things? Persuasion begins by either believing or rejecting thoughts that come to us.
Proverbs 4: 20-23
20 My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
23 Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life
Our hearts are persuaded about many things. Persuasion begins by either believing or rejecting thoughts that come to us. So, what thoughts are determining the course of your life?
Romans 4:20-21 until we are fully persuaded, we will not believe, or have faith.
20 He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced (persuaded) that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
What do you think about yourself?
Healed | Sick |
Blessed | Defeated |
Wholeness | Incomplete |
Prosperous | Poor |
Favored | Rejected |
Fruitful | Unfruitful |
Strong | Weak |
Healthy | Sickly |
Victorious | Defeated |
The word persuade means; to move by argument, entreaty, or objection to a belief, position, or course of action. To plead with, to urge.
We’ve been thinking thoughts since we were children. When we were young, we believed everything that was said to us and about us, whether it was positive or negative. Our thought patterns began to be developed and over time, we have created a philosophy of thinking or a mindset about life. This is where Christ wants His Words to invade; renewing our minds, transforming us to believe what He believes about us!
When we begin the process of renewing our minds, I’m sure you have experienced your mind/thoughts going on “tilt” when you started to find out what God thinks about you and who He says you are! I know I did, but that’s because we have believed things that are not, and never have been true about us.
This is why it is so important to find out God’s thoughts about us through our relationship with Him. If we don’t, we our thoughts will never change. In vs. 21 He says don’t lose sight of His Word, let it penetrate deep into your heart. This is where change happens. Today, fix your eyes and heart on His Word and let these powerful spirit words persuade your heart and bring life and health your entire being.
Take a look at the chart and check to see what you are believing about yourself. Jesus said in John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life“.
You are Righteous, you are loved, and you are His!
This message and scripture passage is a home run with what the Lord is doing in me.
This is exactly what I’m struggling with right now. I thought I believed, but since I haven’t seen results, that must mean I don’t believe like I thought I did. I believe meditating on the scriptures this week will get me where I need to be. Thank you so much for your teachings.
When our Heart has the WORD in it, it persuades itself. It’s effortless.
Our part is to tell our heart to hear the word and retain it, and follow it.
We can command our body, so I command my heart to hear the Word, and retain it, and that its the WORD in my heart that changes my flesh,,,,,,,,,,,,it IS life – giving. It contains LIFE…..Thank you Jesus for this miracle you gave us who believe.
Thank you Colleen for these Words of “Life”!
Great words! I ask the Holy Spirit every night to help my heart be fully persuaded in God’s Word. His Word cannot lie!
