God Is Not a Reluctant Giver!

Happy Monday Morning Friends,  I want to look at one of my most favorite verses in the Bible for this week’s devotional.  It makes my heart happy, and reminds me of who I belong to.

Luke 12:32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Wow, such a rich and life-giving message! And the idea that it pleases the Father to give us the Kingdom is truly profound. I love as we unpack the meaning of “pleasure”—that it’s not just a passing kindness, but a deep, heartfelt joy He experiences in giving us this gift. It’s not just a duty for Him, but something He delights in. This really shifts the way we should view God’s generosity, doesn’t it? He’s not a reluctant giver; He wants us to experience all the richness of His Kingdom, and it fills Him with joy to do so.

This might feel foreign to some of us because we didn’t always experience that kind of unconditional love from our earthly fathers, maybe even none at all. But to know that the Heavenly Father’s love is so tender, so full of gladness and delight toward us—it’s freedom. It’s liberation. The Father’s heart is a place of warmth and assurance, and those words from Jesus in Luke 12:32 feel like a balm to the soul, reminding us of how much He wants to bless us.

Colossian 1:13-14 – For we must never forget that he rescued us from the power of darkness and re-established us in the kingdom of his beloved Son, that is, in the kingdom of light. For it is by his Son alone that we have been redeemed and have had our sins forgiven.

When we look at 1 Peter 2:9 and Colossians 1:13, it really reinforces our identity in Christ as His royal and chosen people, brought into His marvelous light. We’re no longer trapped in the darkness of fear, sin, and confusion. Instead, we’re standing in the glory of His Kingdom—a Kingdom where all the good things that Jesus paid for are not only available, but rightfully ours to enjoy and live in.

1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are God’s “chosen generation”, his “royal priesthood”, his “holy nation”, his “peculiar people”—all the old titles of God’s people now belong to you. It is for you now to demonstrate the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His amazing light. In the past you were not “a people” at all: now you are the people of God. In the past you had no experience of his mercy, but now it is intimately yours.

Don’t you feel the joy we feel when we give gifts to our own children?  As parents, we want to give them the best, and it makes us so happy to see them receive it. How much more does God want to bless us, His beloved children, with His Kingdom?

It’s amazing to think of all the things we have access to through the blood of the cross and the resurrection of Christ—peace, righteousness, grace, healing, health, freedom… all of it, now, because of what Jesus has done.

I pray that this stirs joy and peace in someone’s heart today! Ask yourself, does this message speak to you in any specific area of your life right now?

Talk to your Heavenly Father.  He knows everything about you and is listening for your voice, ready for a Father/child conversation to show you just how good He is!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!

  3. Luke 12:32 is such a beautiful verse- it helps put things in perspective for me. God is *always* available for a warm hug (because that’s what i feel when I read this verse) and to hear about what’s going on in my heart. It reminds to to rest on His strong shoulder. Thanks, Colleen
