You Are Complete In Him!

Good Monday morning my friends.  I pray you have had a week of peace and revelation of the faith that Christ has given us.

In today’s devotional I want to encourage us all about the completeness we have “in Christ”.   So many times, we look to people and things to “complete or satisfy” us, but there is only One completeness that will satisfy us now and forever, and that is Christ, and Him alone!

People and things will always disappoint and come short because they were not meant to complete you.  Even husbands and wives, when we come to together in marriage, we don’t complete each other, we compliment each other. In other words, we show an expression of esteem, respect, affection and admiration for one another.

But when you look at the completeness we have in Christ, we see that He can never disappoint us or come short in any way!  Let’s see what the Word says about how complete we are in Him.

Colossians 2:10

and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Complete in this verse means – to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full, to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally, to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim.  Oh, Praise the Lord, we are so much more than what we have allowed ourselves to believe.

This verse is the completion of a thought that Paul is speaking to us about.  He is warning us to not let anyone cheat us through philosophy (the basic principles of the world)  and empty deceit and the traditions of men that are not according to Christ.  He then tells us in vs. 9 that only in Christ dwells ALL  the fullness of the Godhead bodily.  This is why we are complete in Him, because what dwells in Christ, dwells in you and me.  So Powerful!

    Philippians 1:6

    being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Here, Paul is praying for the Philippian church that as they had been partners with Paul in his ministry, he had this confidence that God would complete what He started in them when they first believed.  Brothers and sisters, He is still completing His good work in you.  Ask Him today how to cooperate with what He wants for your life.

    Hebrews 13:20-21

Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

This scripture tells us absolutely why we are complete in Christ.  It is because God raised Jesus from the dead, and I love this, He calls Him the Great Shepherd of the sheep. And this is only through His blood that He shed for us all.  Then to top it all off, He calls it the “Everlasting Covenant”.  His completeness for us is Eternal and will never disappoint us or fall short!  Hallelujah!

This is what God means when He says make you complete – to mend (what has been broken or rent), to repair, to strengthen, perfect, complete, make one what he ought to be.

Remember, people and things will never complete you or satisfy you like Christ.   It’s what He did for us at the cross, He mended what was broken, you have been repaired, restored, and complete.

I will leave us with this verse in the Gospel of John, in His own words.

    John 15:5

“I am the Vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

He is in you, to accomplish all that He suffered and paid for.  You are His reward, and He wants you to walk in this completeness He has provided for you!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!
