Establishing Beliefs In Your Heart, Forgiveness -Part 1

Have you ever thought about what and why you believe what you believe?  That’s quite a question, isn’t it?

Today’s devotional we are talking about establishing beliefs in our hearts.  Do you know why you believe what you believe?  Have you even asked yourself that question?  Where did these beliefs come from?  How did I pick them up?

Do you let the Bible; God’s Truth get in the way of what you believe?  What if what you believe is wrong, are you willing to yield to God’s Word even when you may not understand it yet?

Forgiven/Forgiveness –  What do you believe about forgiveness?

This is a quote from E.W. Kenyon from his book Two kinds of Righteousness.

“No man can stand right with God simply by having his sins pardoned.  It would leave the old nature that produces those sins still master of the situation.  There must be a new creation.”

Even in the day that Jesus walked the earth, He forgave the sins of those who came to him, but they could not be made righteous yet, because Jesus had not died and fulfilled the work of the cross yet.   We are on the other side of that cross.  We have full redemption in Christ, forgiveness of sins and made righteous forever.

You need to know how forgiven you are and that God sees you that way. He isn’t holding them against you. The blood of His Son has forgiven them completely. Let this truth wash over you so you can stop regretting the past and live in the present with joy and know that the future is good because you belong to Him!

Take these verses and think on them, pray over them, declare them over yourself and let this create deep roots into your heart and enjoy the freedom of forgiveness.

Hebrews 8:12 – 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins [a]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

Isaiah 33:24 – Talking about Zion.
And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity.

Matthew 9:2. Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”

Acts 26:18  to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

Next week we will establish our heart in Righteousness and why knowing we are righteous is vital to our Christian walk.

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!

  1. Colleen,I always believed that Jesus was the son of God and our saviour from the time I was a tot because my mom told me so as did the churches where we lived(born and raised in Ohio small towns). That belief was established but the churches taught that all signs and wonders and miracles passed away long ago.So it wasn’t until I was a much older adult that I heard Andrew Wommack teach and started researching and tweaking my old taught beliefs. After I learned the truth,It was so clear to me and I wondered why everyone Didn’t teach it that way.My beliefs are certainly re-established.Thank you Colleen and David for your devotion to the Word.
