Good morning, all, it’s Monday morning again. I’ve talked about this before, and want to bring it to our attention again. Until we truly understand God’s love to us, and for us, we will never be able to trust Him the way He wants us to. Today, let’s look at “God’s Love for us”. Years ago, I used to think I knew all about God’s love for me, I was so wrong. As long as I thought I was good enough, then I “felt” that He loved me, but the moment I made a mistake or sinned, I was so condemned; and thought that God was disappointed in me for failing, well, I’m here to tell you that is not true. It’s true we should not have a desire to sin, and that there are consequences to sinning, but so many Christians associate God’s love for, and to us based on their performance towards God instead of Jesus’ performance for us. Let’s see what the Word says about this.
I pray this message blesses you to realize that everything we are in Christ and that is given to us, was our Heavenly Father’s idea because of how much He loves you and me!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
We should never get tired of hearing or reading this verse no matter how many times we’ve heard it. Don’t let it get familiar. Sin separated us from God’s love and relationship with Him, but It was His love and plan of redemption, that brought us back into relationship with Him. We need to remember that redemption was God’s idea, not ours. He made the decision to love us before we ever existed, and ZZHe knew every mistake and failing that would happen in our lives, yet, He loved us anyway! Who could ever love us like that, except Him?
God is love, and His nature and character and everything He does is based solely out of His love for us, not on our merits or performance. I John 4:8 (God is Love) When we know How much He loves us, we will be able to declare with confidence just like David:
Psalm 18:1-3
I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates (shows, proves) His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. If He loved us beyond our wildest dreams before we ever knew Him, or even cared about Him, could He love us any more now that we belong to Him as His child? His love has never changed for us because His love was proven beforehand, but now we get to partake of all His benefits for us as a child that has come from that love. It takes the Spirit of God to help us understand that kind of love, so if you don’t understand, He is waiting for you to ask, and you will receive.
Here are some things to think on this week:
- Focusing on God’s love for you brings you into grace, not legalism and performance.
- God’s love is freedom.
- When you know how much God loves you, you won’t care what others think.
- Knowing His love produces an attitude of faith.
- A revelation of God’s love produces trust, which then produces obedience to His plan and will for you.
- Understanding God’s love empowers us and gives us the desire to say “NO” to the lies and attacks of the enemy.
- God’s love causes you to understand your value to Him.
- When you understand how much God loves you, you will also see how much he loves others.
Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His
