A Promise of Long Life!

A Promise of Long Life

Good Monday Morning Friends.  Someone needs to hear this.  “Don’t dread Mondays,  you’ve been looking at it all wrong.  You get the opportunity to invite the Holy Spirit into your week to reveal to you all the good He has for you.  Stop looking for the bad, you have a Good God who loves you and His plans are only good”!

Did you know that we were supposed to live forever before sin and death entered into the world.  Our bodies were created to live on and on. Of course, once sin and death entered in, we no longer would live forever, but that didn’t stop our Father from giving us a promise of Long Life on this earth.  Let’s look at a few verses.

Psalm 91:16

With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”

I love Psalms 91 because it is filled with amazing promises and then He ends it with a promise of long life.  We get to have the conversation with God about our length of life.  We don’t have to go until “we are satisfied”.   God has a plan for your life and wants you to finish your race.

He wants to have a relationship with you so He can show you His salvation.  All the things that Jesus has bought for your life.

He wants you to be fulfilled and satisfied, to have a desire fulfilled.  He wants to show you His salvation, deliverance, health, welfare prosperity and victory.  That’s the kind of life He wants for His children!

Let’s look at Proverbs:

Proverbs 3:1-2

My son do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.

Looking at this through the lens of the new covenant, don’t forget the Word of God and allow your heart to receive it and do what it says, because it will produce length of days, long life and peace they will be added to you.  Wow, that is amazing!

He will lengthen your time from “sunrise to sunset”  and the years of your life but wait there’s more.  He has added Peace to this promise, it is the word Shalom –

  • Completeness
  • Safety, soundness in body
  • Welfare, health, prosperity
  • Peace, quiet, tranquility, contentment
  • Peace, friendship in human relationships, but especially in covenant relationship with God.

So, when you read these couple of verses, read them with a fresh view.  All these benefits are yours as a satisfying long life.

Ponder these words this week, let these renew your mind and perspective of all that your God has for you!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!

  1. This is such a wonderful reminder, Colleen! Thank you! I will admit…this morning I briefly had the thought…”It’s Monday….” vs “It’s Monday!!” Great word and timely, as usual ☺️
