Shifting Our Focus

Happy Monday Everyone! My devotional today is about “shifting our focus”. But what does that mean?

What does it mean to “shift our focus, and why do we need to”? It can mean moving the center of our interest or our focal point from our circumstances to what God says about the situation. He does not want you and I to stay thinking about everything that is wrong. The reason we have so many promises from God is so we can move our thoughts and focus on and believe what God’s Word says about our present and our future.

Entirely shifting our focus from our immediate circumstances to the enduring (permanent) truth of God’s Word can bring profound healing in every area of our life and renewed hope where there was discouragement. Here are some scriptures to meditate on and designed to encourage you and help align your heart and thoughts with God’s promises:

Romans 15:1313 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

2 Corinthians 1:2020 For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God.

Hebrews 10:23 23 Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];

Lamentations 3:22-23
It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed,
Because His [tender] compassions never fail.
23
They are new every morning;
Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.

Micah 7:8

Do not rejoice over me, my enemy;
When I fall, I will arise;
When I sit in darkness,
The Lord will be a light to me.

God is not powerless, but POWERFUL to deliver us from any situation or circumstance! He will never disappoint you! Let your faith, trust and focus be anchored in His truth today!

Remember, you are Loved, you are Righteous, and you are His!

  1. My dear sister in Christ, what a lovely way to start my day with these profound words from you. I needed to hear this so very much as this morning I was just thinking I wanted to give up. You are such a blessing to me both you and David. With love from Colleen in Massachusetts

  2. Psalm 119:105 is my favorite psalm! I’m also partial to 1 Corinthians 13:8: Love never fails.

    Thanks for sharing Lamentations 3:22 – It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, Because His [tender] compassions never fail.

    Blessings!
